KSYN - Stanton Airfield
Stanton Airfield is a general aviation airfield outside the city of Stanton, Minnesota. It has a rich history as it was first opened to train aviators for WWII and has conintued to train pilots ever since (not military of course). Due to the rich history it now resides on the National Register of Historic Places.
The airfield has held close to it's roots. It still consists of intersecting turf runways (18/36, 9/27) and a lmited number of hangars. It also has flight training and glider training as well. Gliders make up a fairly substantial amount of traffic to this airport from what I can make out. My personal experience with this airport is limited however as I've driven by it a handful of times in my life but would love to see it more!
This scenery was made with the Stearman in mind due to my understanding that there is one based on the field. It makes good sense since the field was started for WWII and the Stearman was integral to US pilot training at that time.

Notes:
The scenery was made with mostly generic objects.
Night lighting is minimal as the runways are not lighted (no rotating beacon either) and thus this airport is primarily a day time VFR airport.
Gliders and yellow cones are colinj objects and credit goes to the author for those objects.
Thanks for flying MN airports!
I see we have to be careful of the bear lurking. LOL that's great.

Expressing my thanks also for creating this airport. I am a long time simmer and reside in that great city just to the west. I have driven by it countless times over the years and do fly out of the airport quite often.

Thanks for commenting! I would love to spend more time at SYN if it were closer to my home in the north Metro area. I'm glad you are able to use it as you're more familiar with I about it. Great history behind this place. Glad you found the bear too! I have family that had a bear sighting near the LaCrosse, WI area a few weeks ago so it could happen that bears would invade Stanton!

This is amazing! SYN is my "home" airport. My dad got his PPL here in the 90s and a good friend of mine got his here a couple years ago. I have been coming to this airport for rides and watching since I was about 8 years old (I'm currently 34), and just started bringing my 2 year old out here to watch planes. Thank you so much for making this, I'm about to go try it out!
Edit: Just checked it out, and it is so much better than the base game. The proper cones on the strip alone make a world of difference!

Thanks! Glad you are able to enjoy it IRL and in the sim. It looks like a great place to spend time. Just from the handful of times I've driven by it has a charm I can't really explain. Glad you're getting your child in to planes too, maybe they can catch the bug as well! I recently have had all my kids up in Young Eagles flights at ANE. Such great ways to get kids into aviation. Thanks for sharing your stories!

Thanks again. These are just great. My friend has flown in here but I've yet to do it. It might be the closest public grass strip after Winstead got its runway paved.

Glad you're enjoying these airports! I've driven by this field a couple times in my life and it always looked like a place to get a Piper Cub and fly around the farm fields. Thanks for the heads up about Winstead - I didn't know the runway was paved. Might be one I can update in the sim like 25D.
