Wonderful! No one has ever done a comprehensive scenery for Santa Monica, in any flightsim, until now. Looking forward to seeing the ca. 2017 version. I have airside access at this airport due to my work and can provide reference material for the current and past configurations, if needed.
Comments on the current version:
-The model of the mid-field south hangars (Santa Monica Flyers, Bill's, etc.) has three "awning" type structures above some of the hangar doors. This is incorrect. I believe you have seen the appearance of the open hangar doors in a satellite image. Those doors fold in half width-wise as they are raised upward.
-The ramp area to the south-east that appears to be separated from Taxiway B by a strip of grass, actually slopes down quite a bit towards the large hangar with the arched top (the "Barker Hangar"). The strip that appears to be grass is actually an embankment. The lowest part of that area (around the Barker Hangar) as well as the soccer fields and air museum are about 15-20 feet lower than rest of the airport. I don't know if it is possible to create this kind elevation model for an airport in MSFS, but it is an interesting feature of SMO.
-The southern-most cross-shaped structure in the southeast corner of the airport (the one depicted with picnic benches) is actually a flight school, not a hangar. It should have windows on west and south sides that face the ramp.
Again, thank you for finally giving this historic airport a proper treatment. Please feel free to reach out if you would like some help with photos, etc.

Thanks for your lovely suggestions. We took our notes and we will definitely work on them. We won't able to create elevation around the museum due to photogrammetry coverage and the limitations of MSFS SDK but we will take care of your other suggestions.

find something... any aircraft density move down fps from green 29 to red 26... must be there many of parking places. that generate with bigger probability something heavy for system
AG Sim 7 day(s) ago
Not just aircraft density, also the density of the Photogrammetry and the 3D Models can cause this. I hope 3 FPS does not affect your overall experience. Sorry for that but we tried to maximize the performance without losing quality. We will check again what we can do with the next update. Have fun! 😅
einherz 6 day(s) ago
no no, definitely in front of you letters off who do not count fps. i use counters only when see the problem for found it faster. as i said stutters only inside and close santa monica airport(very close) out i didn't count fps but think there 40 or something like that

Stellar promo video. I fly only tubeliners, so I won't be purchasing, but since I fly in SoCal almost all the time, it is still very tempting. GREAT camera/editing on the video AG!

The only issue i've noticed is the KPH on the service road instead of MPH and the houses and photogrammetry to the south of the airport are all flat. Other than that, fine work! We've been needing a good SMO in the sim for years now and you guys delivered!
AG Sim 10 day(s) ago
We got the new texture from the development team which is MPH. It will be released next week.
Photogrammetry issue is caused by MSFS SDK. Airport flattening polygon is removing the Photogrammetry. When we reshape the polygon to only covering airport, the runway becomes a bumpy road. We are thinking about different solution. Until then enjoy the rest of the Airport.

just picked it up !!! .will test it later today . its about time , better be good.
waiting for it for a long time . ( next ,Camarillo airport please ).

great job on sm airport. looking forward for the update.
AG Sim 8 day(s) ago
It is coming TODAY! Update includes more yellow taxiways and fixed 20 MPH texture.
Cloud_Dancer 7 day(s) ago
Well, the last update didn't really impress me, because the bumps on the North West Taxiway are still there and the center line from the taxiway at the small North West Terminal is still 2 meters too much to the right for the parked cars !
Cloud_Dancer
Sterne.

Can you share the photos of that taxiways with us?

Simply amazing, worth every penny. Another great scenery by AG Sim

hi, did you test it night ultra settings? some vector of view gives stutters. all around ok. just certain object or end effect... may be some rare addon conflict... i remember in p3d long time ago was... nobody knew what that was till someone found is at same vector was addon with same file or something like that... any way... thanx... will flight there day a couple hours😊
AG Sim 12 day(s) ago
Hi, In our object testing for over 70+ custom object, we didn't face any sttuters for the objects on our mid spec, high spec pc.
But because of the LAX is so close to this airport and there is huge photogrammetry over the city, eventually you can get some stutters. It is pushing MSFS to the limits.
Here are the good news. We flown to this airport more than 10 times and we didn't get any sttuters during our flights. Even on our mid spec pc with medium-high graphic quality.
einherz 12 day(s) ago
did you test it night at ultra settings? my spec is 2080ti at 9700k 32ram and nvme for msfs and windows
einherz 12 day(s) ago
just flight day almost no problems micro stutters at some pov. but yesterday night some vector of view give that long time stutters... i don't sure may be there light effects of 100% road vehicles or may be arex from lvfr... don't know really. global scenery around no problems too. except as usual asobo servers for photog, but after reload photog smooth and no problem in day. only night freezing
AG Sim 12 day(s) ago
I am guessing that your issue is not related to us because we only used asobo's light assets. Please let me know if you fix it later.
einherz 12 day(s) ago
yes i use lights only from asobo not any addons like change lights. only airport enhancement from lvfr i'll try later without this addon for be sure it's not about it
einherz 11 day(s) ago
forget disable airport traffic addon from lvfr, but it's must be the cause. after landing i change to external view and look around then freez was at direction where 4 or 5 cars singing and dancing without rain, then when cars drive around for different places i could see around without freezes... so if you force some special pattern for airport it's can be problem with that lvfr addon. afaik they just change default models same as freeware same addon. btw booth very good... any way. i think it's only lvfr conflict with some airports but. may be something special with your addon + this airport traffic addon give the problem

Just picked this up - overall looks really good. Nice work on the modeling of the buildings! I used to hang out here all the time when I lived in LA - Typhoon was one of my favorite restaurants, and The Hump was a cool sushi place while it lasted 😉
Couple nitpick questions ( since it's been a few years since I've flown in there )
All in all - nice work though!
AG Sim 13 day(s) ago
We update our products in a cycle and we will definitely use your suggestions. Thanks!
ravenn22 12 day(s) ago
sounds great - thanks!
igoren 11 day(s) ago
I am still hanging up on the balcony to view landing and take off . the runway is shorter now , no jets allow any more ( noise restrictions etc.).Typhoon is closed for many years now ( do to found by the FBI the restorant was serving shark meat under the table ). was big news at the time .
ravenn22 11 day(s) ago
actually, The Hump ( the small restaurant space on the top floor ) got busted for serving whale meat as a secret delicacy and that put them out of business. I was there a couple months before that happened. I think they were owned by the same guys that owned Typhoon - which went out of business several years later ( I think just usual money reasons ) I'd been to Typhoon a few times after The Hump was shut down.

The road signs that say 20 KPH should read 20 MPH.
AG Sim 13 day(s) ago
It will be fixed next week.
MMDesign 12 day(s) ago
I was also like KPH on an American Airfield? nah that can't be right lol. But for AG Sim defence when you zoom in on maps it's really tough to read the M, it's very narrow. If it wasn't in the US I would also think it's a K instead of an M.
AG Sim 12 day(s) ago
Thanks for your kind words. Just a little bit confusion 😊

from the airport, I visit the airport all the time. Ive been waiting for this for way to long. Thank you so much for making this, its truly amazing!! You guyes also did an amazing job on the museum! I showed my boss who runs it and he loved it. Overall, such an amazing job!! Well worth the money I spent to buy it.
jvortiz56
gorgeous. Is this the present-day prop-only runway or the jet-length runway of KSMO's glory days? Cheers!
Oh, yeah, being an LA-boy, I wish the museum grounds by the DC-3 had the Donald Douglas statue, but I'll live.
Just one more thing: You considering doing Whiteman in the SFV? LA County has a helo facility there and there are helipads along the southeast end of the runway (rwy 30). I'd pay for that, too.
AG Sim 14 day(s) ago
This package only includes the current runway but I will make an optional package with old runway next week.
jvortiz56 14 day(s) ago
Cool - does that mean we can switch sceneries as we desire? Very nice work. I was there a couple months ago and this really matched.
AG Sim 14 day(s) ago
yep, you will be able to switch between different configurations
jvortiz56 14 day(s) ago
Terrific. Thank you.
EdTruthan 13 day(s) ago
The 3D airport assets and buildings have been faithfully replicated here, and it’s very nicely done. I highly recommend this addon.
I’m a bit confused however about the planned “optional package with old runway” comment above though. Hopefully the developer can clarify this…
The current Version 1.0 release actually only reflects the airport in its TEMPORARY 2018 configuration but not the CURRENT 2022 airport. Here’s a brief clarification:
Until December 2017 the runway was a full 4,973 feet. Then, due to long standing residential noise issues, the planned transition to 3500 feet with short displacements on either end was begun and had been fully completed by October 2018.
So the current release (Version 1.0) appears to depict the airport in its TRANSITIONAL 2018 state only, when just over 700 feet of both ends of the original 4,973 foot runway had been temporarily repainted as blast pads and taxiway access to about 725 feet on both ends was subsequently restricted.
By the fall of 2018 however the final removal of those blast pads had been completed (except for a little under 300 feet on either side reserved as unmarked threshold displacements), leaving only dirt patches where the blast pads had been. This is the current state of the airport in 2022, as can be seen in Google Earth. (The various transitions can be easily seen by using the history slider in Google Earth).
So was the mention of “an optional version" going to be the current 2022 airport, the pre-2017 airport, and/or still include the very short lived “transitional 2018” (which is the current Version 1.0) airport? It’s a bit confusing.
I would think the majority of users would prefer the option to load the current 2022 state of the airport over the other choices.
jvortiz56 12 day(s) ago
not me. I appreciate that the creator is giving us the old KSMO I've know all my life here in LA, but it's great that there is an option for purists.
EdTruthan 12 day(s) ago
Yeah, I get and fully understand that sentiment. And the developer has stated they wish to provide an option to load the classic pre-2018 runway, which is welcome and generous. I guess the clarification I was looking for was if they are also going to provide a version that reflects the current 2022 field. I mean if there were ultimately going to be "two options" to choose from, wouldn't they most logically be either THE CURRENT runway, or the OLD runway, but not the (Version 1.0) "transitional state" between the two that existed for only some 10 months? That doesn't seem to be the optimal version for either sentiment, i.e. neither the "old school" crowd, nor the 2022 "purist". Anyway, hopefully the developer will consider the issues at hand accordingly.
AG Sim 12 day(s) ago
Hi Ed, Once we complete our research about the different configurations of the KSMO, we can share more than one option. Like pre-2018, pre-2022, and the current 2022 option. All will be released next week with update notification to your accounts.
EdTruthan 12 day(s) ago
Awesome. Appreciate the clarification. And thanks for all the meticulous work and care involved in bringing this iconic airfield to life for us.
