A discovery flight for you to find all of the operational World War 2 Airfields in the UK.
Many have disappeared and others have contracted or been extended but some still remain forgotten and unused.
Two start points are possible:
1, Airborne above Duxford in the FlyingIron Spitfire Mk IX (used as that seems to be the most popular Warbird in MSFS) Currently this is downloaded from the 'Old file' link.
2, Over the Channel by Dover in a Luftwaffe Bf109E (freeware https://flightsim.to/file/26971/messerschmit-bf109-e4), starting with a full load of fuel see how many airfields you can recce...
Currently this is downloaded from the 'New file' link.
A Point-of-Interest marker is generated at the site of each airfield giving its name and whether this field was used by the RAF or the USAAF or both.
Where the airfield is in current use in MSFS an MSFS-generated airfield POI may also present.
Note that Discovery missions will have music playing, you can disable music in the General Options - Sound tab.
POIs are also additative, so if you have other Discovery flights within the UK you might see POIs from both flights in both flights.
The WW2 airfields will also appear in the World Map for flight planning so you can plan your own missions.
The data for the airfields was supplied by the Rotary Club of Cambridge - https://www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/page.php?PgID=632446&ClubID=460&fbclid=IwAR1lIW_gE-nbHhKAcGnVxQzc79ycqqjGro_aYAKvnM6lhzi_qSVXU3MS23g
To install just unzip to your Community folder, to uninstall delete the folder.
The flight can be found in the Activities - Custom Content page (not the Discovery Flights page).
I can create alternative start points on request, given suitable 'period' locations :) and possibly alternative aircraft

"Aircraft used is the FlyingIron Spitfire Mk IX (used as that seems to be the most popular Warbird in MSFS) starting airborne above Duxford."
