Stranger Things have happened here than you'd imagine from flying over it. Beautiful forested roads and paths, rundown old boarded up buildings and a super-long-range radar installation that's falling to pieces are what you see at first, but check out this article about Camp Hero for a little history:
https://www.messynessychic.com/2021/10/08/buried-secrets-of-montauks-menacing-military-camp-that-inspired-stranger-things.
The camp was named for Maj. Gen. Andrew Hero Jr. The AN/FPS-35 radar installation was part of the US coastal defense during WW II and the Cold War. Today it's a good visual reporting point, even though on the New York Sectional its name is in lowercase type. :(
Who knows, you might even sight Eleven wandering around!
This Long Island division of my NYC Bridges set is yet another of the more than 40 New York City area bridges and growing number of landmarks I have created. All the bridges and landmarks are very framerate-friendly with up to four Levels of Detail.
There's bound to be a leftover gate to the Upside Down somewhere on the facility property. Given the current state of Hawkins, Indiana, this might prove vital in the coming days.
