Where their data is good, it’s a good step up from live weather from asobo, much more accurate and even looks a lot better.
However if your main flying area, lacks the data points on their side then live weather is just better by some margin, so for the price not having the whole globe covered to a good enough level isn’t acceptable as one could be rolling the dice to if it’ll be any good in their main area of flying.
For instance I mainly fly in New Zealand and in the North Island it’s better than live weather by a fair bit but go fly in the South Island and it suddenly live weather was much more accurate.
so TLDR if you mostly fly in the major centres in the US or Europe I’d confidently say you get a much better weather experience more times than not but if you mostly fly in smaller countries like NZ, you are rolling the dice which for the price shouldn’t be a thing.
One last thing the transitions/loading of weather isn’t as good as the live weather, and can be very noticeable, from my gathering worse for some users than other.

How does it compare with REX Weather Force? Huge difference in the price of the two. I have read places where people are having problems with this program. For $42.00 Yankee, it should do the job without a hassle. I'd like a critical review of the two weather engines before I purchase either.

I don't know why so much bad comment below XE2020. Its only a software which ONLY provide data to the sim but not like REX have 4/5 G cloud file in P3D. So why XE2020 will hit fps.
The default weather in MSFS have some problem. Like the weather is outdated or it update suddenly in sim may cause fenix AP off. maybe its my network problem because I'm in China. But XE2020 solve the problem to me. and its a good plugin to me.
And the other people think the price is to high. I think plz make money harder : )

Ive heard about that AP disconnect on weather updates and etc but for some reason Ive never had that prob Ive seen it update many times during flight and not enough to throw me off course or disconnect AP.

The best engine for the wx in MSFS even way better than msfs default.... It needs to improve, But magnus said they will create their own atmosphere 😊 5 STARS from me

I like this but I am now getting THIS dialog box when I load up: https://gyazo.com/6456179f7b5bbbe3c38e8a1779285ae9
Threshold / Dark Space 6 day(s) ago
Sorry, but this is unrelated to xEnviro. The bandwidth usage has nothing to do with the injection of the weather and is very low. If you want, you can contact support, but this is not xE related.

Alright. Just an interesting coincidence.

Just too bad your 2.5 starts still stand and give us a bad rep. Or are there other things that you do not like with the addon?

Thank you for amending the stars. Much appreciated!

I saw Overkils YouTube video for this, so without doing any research, I ended up buying it. Then afterwards, I heard about the comments in the FSElite and other YouTube videos panning it.
I look at it this way. You have to turn off Live Weather in MSFS for XEnviro to take over. If I disagree with how the weather looks in XEnviro, I can turn on Live Weather, and get what MSFS gives me. I have the ability to go back in history (not too far back though, only since Octover 2022). But for example, I can go to any of the tornados that happened earlier this year, or I can go to the 2 feet of snow Buffalo got on Christmas Eve and day. Or I can go to any of the rain storms California had that caused the flooding.
Yes, it is $42. But I can toggle the default weather and XEnviro to see which looks more realistic. I can go back in time for certain weather events. It gives me flexibility. I admit once I saw all the negative feedback, I got concerned about my purchase. But, it has given me a choice. I can have MSFS live weather, or I can have XEnviro live weather. If MSFS live weather is down, which happens sometimes, boom, I can with a flick of a setting have XEnviro live weather. I spent $40 for Just Flights FSTraffic, and only use the airplane models with FSTL. I don't regret this purchase with the flexibility it offers me.
tgbushman 6 day(s) ago
Actually, an update. XEnviro renders the weather that MSFS gets from live weather. So if MSFS live weather service is down, it will be down for XEnviro too. This can't be used as a backup for the live weather in MSFS.
Threshold / Dark Space 6 day(s) ago
This is not correct. We use our own weather engine which is completely separate from MSFS Live weather. Please check if your weather briefing in xE is populating and what it is supposed to depict. If this deviates from what you see in your sim, please contact support.
tgbushman 6 day(s) ago
When I am saying Live Weather, I mean the Microsoft Live Weather Service that is in Azure. MSFS calls that, and then renders the weather based on the METAR. XEnviro renders the weather based on that exact same METAR. If Microsoft Live Weather Service is down and not delivering METARs, then it effect both the base sim live weather rendering and XEviro's weather rendering. At least that is what I was told. I was told that XEnviro does not inject its own live weather, it simply renders it different than the sim would.
Threshold / Dark Space 6 day(s) ago
I am not sure where you heard this, but it is, as I said, not correct. We don't use that same source. We have our own weather engine, which has been in development since 2002 and has been used in xEnviro for X-Plane for over ten years. We use five different sources for our calculations which are entirely independent of the MSFS weather engine.
wolly1380
Xp11 Xp12 $42but since the default MSFS weather engine is much better than xplane are we just blowing $42 just for a slight improvment or even a dis-advantage with 60 minuteweather I'd say so
Threshold / Dark Space 6 day(s) ago
We don't use X-Plane's weather engine. And we don't replace the clouds in MSFS other than scaling. And I am not sure what you mean with 60 minute weather. Our intervals go in increments from 5 to 60 minutes, your choice.
eupedroernesto
This guy thinks he’s in X-Plane charging an abusive price and nobody complains.

I've seen it all before with apps that don't provide demos. If you buy it at such an extortionate price and it doesn't work on your PC then there is no come back it seems. This buy it or lump it mentality does the product no credit!
Skymatix
xEnviro is a great add-on. I loved using it in XP11 and am very glad that it is now available in XP12, It's a game changer and having it in 2020 as well, is the cherry on the cake. Now we have proper weather in both sim platforms!!!
alucard8679
is this addon only effect at city area or reality area? because in reality, maybe all province is fog, but in MFS2020 default weather, only fog above each city , if u leaving the city , the weather will be clear . its not good.
Threshold / Dark Space 8 day(s) ago
MSFS default weather does apply fog everywhere on a global scale, and its accuracy is decent. We do the same but with a much more advanced engine. And if you are talking about pollution and smog, I believe MSFS doesn't consider that. At least it didn't before. We do, where ever air quality is reported.

um 35 euro würd ich das pogramm auch kaufen und andere leute sicher auch aber 48 euro ne sorry geht gar nicht es gibt nicht mal eine demo ich kauf sicher nicht die katze im sack mfg
Threshold / Dark Space 8 day(s) ago
Ein demo würde den addon sofort cracken. Leider. 😊

does this mod allow the wing to disappear into the clouds like this https://youtu.be/XHZMGvqkNr4?t=236
Threshold / Dark Space 8 day(s) ago
Not yet. We do not alter the MSFS clouds other than scaling and drawing them with our weather engine. And this effect is much more challenging to achieve than you would think. This is probably why Asobo has not done it yet. However, we have it on the XP11 version of xEnviro, where we replace the whole atmosphere. We plan to do the same in MSFS, which is further down the line.

My comment simply attaching a video of an analysis of this addon was deleted. I did not bad mouth the product, it was simply an informative comment for any would-be buyers. I only typed something akin to the following:
What rules did that violate, fs.to?
Threshold / Dark Space 9 day(s) ago
Not sure, tbh. But it may be because that video is posted by someone who is not testing the product. He doesn't own the product when posting the video, which is quite misleading.
steveduemila
Sounds so nice!
Some questions:
Does it affect FPS and performances?
It really adds turbulence in clouds?
Is there somewhere a demo video?
Even just for the clouds turbulence it worth the money......i really miss it in MSFS2020..........
Thank you for the answers!
Threshold / Dark Space 9 day(s) ago
We don't have a demo video, but you can watch this one ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ6LSLixxwo&t=10s ), where you can see some turbulence. Since the video was released six months ago, the weather transitions are smooth, and other quirks have been ironed out. =)
It does not affect fps in any way since we don't replace the clouds (yet). We only alter the size to get more realistic spacing between cloud layers.
steveduemila 9 day(s) ago
Video apart, does it add in cloud turbulence or si only a random effect?
Threshold / Dark Space 9 day(s) ago
We add "in cloud turbulence", yes.

Thank you fro your prompt answers! I'll buy it!

Other then the one nearest weather glitch for Canadian airports, I have used the app for two days and enjoying every minute. 😊 Renders thunderstorms, a lot better then the default and the REX product. Turbulence and wind shear in the Lake Ontario region is as close I have seen/felt it.

He looks really good, I don't have to suffer with the inaccurate default weather and the built-in cotton candy-like clouds, and the very weird smooth clouds
ninosky52
the too high price and the lack of a demo make me unwilling to buy it
Threshold / Dark Space 10 day(s) ago
I can understand that. Sadly, making a demo would expose it to pirates, who would crack it instantly. And since that has not happened, we can't risk it.
podnike 9 day(s) ago
And with this price u think there will be no cracked version? Clever to still quickly rip off the fair impatient customer.
Sorry but there is absoluty no reason for that bs price.
Threshold / Dark Space 8 day(s) ago
XE has not been cracked in over ten years, and it will stay that way. You're entirely in your right to have an opinion on the price, but our running costs are high, and we do believe we deliver something worth the one-time payment with lifetime updates.

Don't like the price, don't buy it, it's pretty simple.

No Feedback - no improvement, it´s pretty simple.
